Barry Gittelson, Architect :: Organic materials and sensibilities inhabit the platonic geometry of Malibu architect Barry Gittelson's arrangement of discreet pavilions for living and working, finished in concrete and various woods. Conventional rooms are nearly absent: Living, dining and sitting areas, cul-de-sac library, open kitchen and sleeping mezzanine all occupy the same trapezoidal volume, defined not by walls but by orientation and elevation, each a vantage point for a sweeping coastal vista. Separated by a glazed vestibule, the studio with loft occupies a truncated pyramid with a glass roof. 3 sleeping areas, 3 baths, laundry. 2-car parking and workshop space occupy a detached, cylindrical garage structure.
