Clayton Baldwin, Architect ::1954 John Bernard, Room Service :: Located on the perimeter of historic Hancock Park, this mid-century modern home was completely reconceived for the new millennium by designer John Bernard of Room Service in 2004.

While the Bauhaus-influenced H-plan of the original architecture remains intact, virtually all interior finishes have been harmoniously redone.

African zebra wood cabinets, terrazzo countertops, walnut floors and glass mosaic tile have been tastefully combined with original details, resulting in a successful marriage of old and new.

Each of the rooms is oriented toward one of two interior courtyards, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors provide a continuous indoor/outdoor experience.

The house is well sited with its back to the street on a huge corner lot, embracing a kidney-shaped swimming pool and providing ample room for the lanai and pau lope dining area in back. Forty-foot tall evergreen elms and water conserving native plants complete the landscape.
